and etc
This is a redundant expression from which and should be dropped. Etc. is an abbreviation of the Latin et cetera and means "and so forth." It looks out of place in formal writing. Furthermore, it cannot be pronounced in speech without sounding individual letters or giving the entire phrase. Sometimes we use etc. at the end of a list to suggest that much more could be added. But do we really have anything in mind?
